“I want to make my position on the right – that’s where I know where I am now,” stressed the 27-year-old. “I’ve told the manager that I want to be known for playing on the right again, although I can play up front. I want to know where I want to play. The manager has said I can play up front. It depends on what game it is. I know I can do a job up front as well as on the right.”
After Robin van Persie’s move to Manchester United in the summer of 2012, Arsenal’s No. 14 winger expressed a wish to become the new forward that could potentially bag 20 goals in the Premier League. That first season after the Dutchman’s departure (2012/13) proved fruitful for Walcott, however since then he has suffered a decline in fortunes as he struggled both with injuries and fitness. As a result, he now intends to rediscover his form in his original position – the wing.

Since singing for the Gunners in 2006, Walcott has scored 85 goals across all competitions in 344 appearances, with his best performance coming in the 2012/13 season when he bagged 14 goals in the Premier League and 21 overall. However, since reaching that peak the former Southampton man hasn’t been as productive in front of goal, as he’s managed to find the back of the net on a mere 5 occasions each of the last three season in the English top flight.
His poor goal conversion last season saw him omitted from Roy Hodgson’s final-23 man squad for the Euros in France, however Walcott is determined to prove himself in the coming year in the Premier League under new England boss Sam Allardyce
“Sam Allardyce has come in and everyone starts on a clean slate. I’m excited to see what he si going to bring. He gets the best out of his players,” said Walcott. “He knows how to get results. His teams were always difficult to play against. That is what you want going into an England team. You want England to be difficult to break down. I’m sure he is going to get results. At times, it is no all about pretty football.”

Arsenal have splashed the cash on one major signing and a few other reinforcements this summer, as Wenger bids to become a Premier League champion for the first time since ‘The Invincibles’ clinched the title in 2004. They signed midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach for £38.25 million, while centre forward Takuma Asano and defender Rob Holding were bought for a combined 6 million from Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Bolton respectively.
Currently, Arsenal are fourth favourites for the title 7.00 (6/1), per online sportsbook Bet365, but they’re odds for finishing in top 4 of the table are much higher 1.57 (4/7). Man City are the biggest challengers for the title in 2016/17 with odds of 3.50 (5/2), while Man United are underdogs 4.33 (10/3) and Chelsea are third favourites 6.50 (11/2).

All the top teams have new managers (Man City – Pep Guardiola, Man United – Jose Mourinho and Chelsea – Antonio Conte), except for the Gunners who have stuck with the same manager for the past two decades. This might, at last, actually work in their favour as all the other sides have to adjust to the new systems imposed by the new managers.
All the players of the Arsenal squad already know each other and the way they play so it could very well serve their purpose in challenging for the league. If Wenger adds a top-quality player to his team before the transfer deadline (August 31), their Outright odds could considerably improve.
The Gunners open their 2016/17 campaign with an immediate test against Liverpool at the Emirates on August 14, for which they’re the favourites 2.15 (23/20). Jurgen Klopp’s men are underdogs 3.40 (12/5) for the match, while a tie between the two stands at 3.30 (23/10), per online sportsbook Bet365.
