English striker Harry Kane is reportedly on Barcelona’s transfer wish list, but a potential move would require a fee in excess of £200m.
Only a world-record transfer fee could convince Tottenham to sell
With Barcelona’s attack showing diminishing sings of goalscoring stats, the Catalan giants are
reportedly eyeing up a particular player that has been in superb form in front of goal for a few years
running now. According to football betting sites in UK, Barcelona are preparing to make a move on
Tottenham’s Harry Kane as they look to strengthen their attacking lineup.
With the Spurs striker being one of the finest players in his position at the moment, the London side
would demand a world-record transfer fee for their biggest star. Transfermarkt – the website that
analyses the value of football players – values Kane at a whopping £135m, so any bid that were to
come in for him would have to be considerably higher for Spurs to actually entertain the idea of
selling him.
The transfer fee would have to trump the £198m that PSG paid Barcelona for Brazilian superstar
Neymar in the summer of 2017, which altered the entire way that football transfers are valued and
conducted. Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy has a reputation as a seriously tough negotiator when
it comes to his players – as has been evidenced in the transfer cases of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale
– so he won’t budge not even a little bit if an actual offer were to come for Kane.
Could Tottenham survive without harry Kane?
After several loan spells with less competitive sides, Kane finally broke into the Spurs’ starting lineup
in the 2014/15 season when he banged in an incredible 31 goals across all competitions. Over the
subsequent two campaigns, the striker found the back of the net another 62 times overall, but last
season proved to be his most fruitful to date. Kane struck a remarkable 41 goals overall in the
2017/18 campaign, so it’s no surprise the Catalan powerhouse want to sign him.
The London side have moved into third position on the Premier League table last weekend after
defeating Leicester City 2:0 on the road without the presence of Kane in their squad, Tottenham
boss Mauricio Pochettino only introduced the imposing striker in the last 15 minutes of the game as
he kept one eye on the more important upcoming match in Europe.
Tottenham will next face Barcelona in the final group stage game of the Champions League, for
which Pochettino says that they’re going to the Nou Camp to collect the 3 points, despite going up
against a side that’s won the competition five times, per football betting sites in Spain.
“Now it allows us to start thinking about Barcelona,” said the Argentine boss. “You never know in
football until you play. It will be a massive game, they have qualified for the next stage but in the
Champions League no-one is going to give a present.”
“We need to win and deserve to win. The mentality is going to be 200 per cent to try to win. We are
going to arrive in the best condition, Barcelona are one of the best teams in Europe.”
