eSports LoL Coming to Las Vegas, Nevada

eSports LoL (League of Legends) is almost a genre in itself, and with the amount of money Riot Games’ free-to-play MOBA has generated since its release, it’s no surprise that the business sharks of Las Vegas decided to bring it under their wings.

According to a VEGAS INC report, the Chinese technology and social gaming company Ourgame is planning to develop a permanent eSports arena in Las Vegas, most likely to be housed inside one of the casinos on the Strip. In a recent interview, Frank Ng., the CEO of Ourgame, said that he would like to see at least a dozen eSports arenas worldwide; if one was to be built on the Strip, most likely it would be similar to what Ourgame has set up in Bejing, which is a 14,000 square feet eSports complex with a broadcast studio, hundreds of gaming stations, a two-hundred-seat arena, and more.

Ourgame is probably best known in the Western world for acquiring World Poker Tour in 2015 for approximately $35,000,000. The current president of World Poker Tour, Adam Pliska, said about Ourgame that, “They’re able to get people together and really commit to a global enterprise for eSports right from the beginning.”

He also said that Ourgame’s goal is to build an internationally connected set of competitions, similar to what World Poker Tour did to poker.

If that is the case, then Las Vegas seems as good a place to start as any, especially considering that the spring season eSports LoL championship of the North American LCS for this year is scheduled to be held in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Events Center — a first for the eSports LoL event that had been taking place in Los Angeles until now.
