“I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club,” John Terry said. “Everyone knows I’m Chelsea through and through. I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one. Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You’re the best in the world.”
The 35-year-old has made over 700 appearances across all competitions for the club and has won a total of 16 trophies in his 18-year stay at Stamford Bridge. His silverware cabinet includes four Premier League titles, five FA Cup medals and one Champions League crown, among many other trophies. He’ll be looking to add some more in the following 12 months, although currently online sportsbooks don’t favour Chelsea to win much. Bruce Buck, Chelsea Chairman, echoed John Terry’s sentiment of signing the new deal by highlighting his massive contribution to the Blues. “We are delighted John will spend another year at the club. He has been the leader of the Chelsea squad throughout the most successful period in our history,” said the chairman. “He recently reached the 700-appearance mark, which is testament to his professionalism and dedication as well as his undoubted talent.”
The Director of the club, Marina Granovskaia, also voiced her delight of keeping John Terry for another year. “We look forward to another year with John at the club, and believe he will be an important figure in the dressing room and on the pitch as we look to bring success back to the club next season,” Chelsea’s Director said.
