Murray Favourite for Wimbledon Title Following Djokovic’s Exit (Bet on Andy Murray)

The Scot downplayed his chances of clinching the Wimbledon title due to Djokvic’s exit from the competition, but he’s nonetheless the favourite for the title. Bet on Andy Murray with Paddy Power Sports!

“It doesn’t (make any difference) because, if I was to reach the final, then it may have some bearing, but it doesn’t right now. My draw’s still exactly the same. The matches, in the next round especially, are tough,” said the 29-year-old.

Murray commented that Australian Nicholas Kyrgios and Spanish Feliciano Lopez can cause upsets on the green courts – something that online sportsbooks didn’t predict at the start of the tournament. “Nick and Feli are both very, very good grass-court players. The bookies don’t always get it right. They made a few mistakes over the last weeks across a number of different things. Your job is to go out there and try to win the matches that are there in front of you. That’s what I’ll try and do.” Bet on Andy Murray on Paddy Power Sports!

Murray has so far claimed only two major titles in his career, the US Open in 2012 and Wimbledon in 2013, which makes his silverware collection modest compared to some other tennis stars. Despite downplaying the Serbian’s exit from Wimbledon, it will no doubt give Murray greater chances of getting his hands on his second title if he manages to overcome his challengers on the way to the final.

With Djokovic out of the running for tennis’s most prestigious trophy, Murray has automatically become the favourite 1.72 (8/11), per online sportsbook Paddy Power. At this point, no one can compare to the Scot with every other player at the tournament having outsider chances, except for the seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer (No. 3), who’s the second favourite 3.75 (11/4).

Canadian 25-year-old Milos Raonic (No. 7) chances of securing his first-ever Wimbledon have increased to 8.00 (7/1) after defeating Belgium’s rising star David Goffin (No. 11). Marin Cilic (No. 13) is fourth favourite 15.00 (14/1), while 31-year-old Jo-Wilfred Tsonga (No. 12) is right behind him 21.00 (20/1) on the odds chart following his victory over iconic French star Richard Gasquest, per online sportsbook Paddy Power.
