Rush

The first film’s title Rush (2013) reminds us of the fight between James Hunt and Niki Lauda back in the 1970’s. Starring with Daniel Brühl and Chris Hemsworth, this film will definitely force you to stay in front of your TV. Based on a true story about the two star’s struggles to become a word champion, Rush will take you to an unbelievable rivalry of the bests in the 70s .

Grand Prix

Our second film, Grand Prix is a sport drama from 1966 and a real treasure describing the life of an American Grand Prix driver – Pete Aron – and his crash at Monaco when he injures one of his teammate, Scott Stoddard from Britain. After the accident, Aron starts driving for the Yamura team and gets involved in a love adventure with the abandoned wife of his seriously injured mate. Be careful! It may contain traces of romance.

The Racers

The Racers (1955) takes us back to Monte Carlo for the Grand Prix where a ballerinaNicole Laurent –  and a race car driver  – Gino Borgesa  – meets. The story starts with a bagatelle movement, the engine part of the car needs to be repaired and the lady gives a hairpin to the racer to repair the engines. And here we are again, love at first sight, car racing, intrigue and jealousy…

Senna

If we are talking about top 5 Formula 1 movies and documentaries, this piece should be among top. This is the story of the greatest F1 driver ever. Senna (2010) is a brilliant documentary about the Brazilian Formula 1 racing driver who won the F1 world championship three times before he died at the age of 34 in a fatal crash. The film was directed by Asif Kapadia.

Weekend of a Champion

Last production in our list is again a documentary, Weekend of a Champion (1972). This masterpiece was made by Roman Polanski who spent a weekend with Jackie Stewart as he attempted to win the 1971 Monaco Grand Prix. The film won Special Recognition Award in Berlin International Film Festival (1972) and was nominated for Golden Berlin Bear Award.

So these are the top 5 Formula 1 movies and documentaries every F1 fan will admire. Don’t miss them by no means before the inspiring season starts.
