Professional wrestling star Chyna – Joan Marie Laurer – was found dead at the age of 45 in her home. The shocking news about the former sports star was confirmed by the police in Redondo Beach, California.
Based on police reports, the women were found dead by a friend who went to check on her since she was unresponsive for several days to phone calls. The cause of the death is still under investigation, however police ruled out the possibility of foul play. The only thing being known is wrestling star Chyna had passed away before her body was found by a friend.
Wrestling Star Chyna: A Life Full of Ups and Downs
After studied Spanish Literature and graduated from the University of Tampa, she started her career as a professional wrestler. Later in 1996 she was named as the Rookie of the Year for the Women’s Championship. She was a recognized female wrestling legend due to being the only undefeated female champion in the history of World Wrestling Federation. Between 1997-2001 she won the WWE International Championship twice.
Besides wrestling, she appeared in several magazines, TV shows and from 2004 pursued a new career in the field of adult films. According to her biography, titled If They Only Knew she was portrayed as a “Part feminist and part superhero who has blazed a trail where no woman had gone before. She has battled her entire life: against a controlling mother; against a scheming father; and against a world with a predetermined view of what beauty and success should be. She has battled and won her entire life.” In this book she had also labelled herself as the “Ninth Wonder of the World.”
Back in 2005 she was arrested due to beating her boyfriend who was also a wrestler, Sean Waltman. Later she confessed that she had attempted suicide and she hadn’t have friends. Before her death, she struggled with substance abuse.
Along with many others, Stephanie McMahon professional wrestler and Chief Officer of WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) expressed her regrets on Twitter. She said about the wrestling star Chyna that she was a pioneer in the industry and she will be missed.
